I am not a religious person. I see the evil and chaos that exist in the world, and that have existed since the beginning of time, and simply cannot have blind faith in anything.

I do, however, appreciate the message of peace and goodwill to all; well, at least almost to all. I also appreciate the faithful readers of this blog. I want to mention two by name, 56PackardMan and photobyjohnbo. I have never met either “author” nor spoken to them voice-to-voice, but their support of Disaffected Musings is VERY much appreciated.

On this day in 1878 Louis Chevrolet was born in Switzerland. Of course, his name lives on in the company he “co-founded” in 1911 with William C. Durant.

Chevrolet was a race car driver and self-taught automotive engineer. His brother, Gaston, won the Indianapolis 500 in 1920. Not surprisingly, Louis became disenchanted working with Durant and sold his share in Chevrolet to Durant in 1915.

It is amazing to me how many of the names of the automotive founding fathers still live on and the vast majority of people are simply unaware. Buick, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Dodge, Ferrari, Ford, Honda, Lamborghini, Maserati, Renault, Rolls-Royce and Toyota (Toyoda) are all named after the people that founded, or co-founded, the company.
