If you’re not a Corvette fan, then you should stop reading. My wonderful wife and I are both fans of the Corvette and between us have owned three of them. I think the Vette is iconic and, in many ways, a symbol of America, both good and bad but mostly good.

About 1.7 million Corvettes have been produced making it, by far, the most successful performance car in history. I also believe it is the longest running car model in history as this year is the 65th anniversary of the first Corvette. (I think the Chevrolet Suburban is the longest running vehicle model having been introduced in 1935.)

I am not a blind Vette fanatic. I am not a big fan of the C1, the first generation Corvette (1953-1962), nor am I a big fan of the C3 (1968-1982). However, I think the C2 (1963-1967) is the best looking and most desirable American car of all time and the newer generations are amazing value for money given the high level of performance and finish. My wonderful wife’s C7, a 2015 model, will go 0-60 in 4 seconds, reach 190 MPH, pull 1 G on a skid pad, is luxuriously appointed and has all manner of modern wizardry. She paid less for the Corvette than the MSRP for a well-equipped Suburban.
