The Plague Of Anti-Semitism

I know this post title will stop a lot of people from reading. So be it…

Sadly, scarily it appears to be “Open Season” on Jews. Here are just two of countless events.

Google’s former Head of “Diversity” (I will not dignify his existence by mentioning his name) tweeted that “Jews love to start wars.” He is still employed by the Evil Empire although he was removed from his role as Head of “Diversity.”

April Powers, former “Chief Equity and Inclusion Officer” for the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Editors, was fired from her job for criticizing anti-Semitism. I am not making that up. Oh, she is not just a Jewish woman, but a Black Jewish woman. You see, Powers didn’t also criticize Islamophobia and she defended her stance on Facebook.

I am using all of my willpower not to launch into a profanity-laced tirade. However, this is not some academic exercise. Jewish lives are literally at stake. From this article:

“This holds for all beleaguered minorities except one. And you know which one that is: the Jews. Although they’re the most frequent victims of hate crimes in the U.S. on a per capita basis, Jews though a tiny minority, are not considered minorities and are not considered oppressed—despite the data I just gave and the increasing tendency of the American Left to tilt towards anti-Israel sentiments and, indeed, anti-Semitic movements like BDS. Lest you fault me for going off on anti-Semitism again, be aware that this is one of the biggest hypocrisies of the Western Left, right up there with the Left’s failure to defend the rights of gays and women that are regularly abrogated in Arab countries. After all, Arabs are considered people of color and Jews are honorary white people.”

The author of this piece is not an American conservative, but an American liberal. While, of course, the neo-Nazi faction of the American right hates Jews because, well, they’re neo-Nazis, the American left’s rapidly increasing hatred of Jews is just as real, just as wrong and misguided and just as dangerous.

I could show the Nobel Prize data again–you know, Jews are two-tenths of one percent of the world’s population, but have been awarded 26% of the Nobel Prizes in Physics–but narrow-minded racists don’t care about facts. What I can write is that Israel’s existence has never been as important as it is now.

  1. The hate that leads to today’s post is virulent, pervasive, and metastatic. I will only say this: the hate in a certain group of U.S. citizens drives them to demand that Trump get credit for Operation Warp Speed while simultaneously questioning and even outright refusing COVID vaccination.

  2. Oh, I forgot to tweet that one yesterday. Sorry; I read my e-mail at home any more but the computer I tweet from is at work, so I just forgot about it.  B

    1. No problem, sir. One of the good things about digital “publishing” is that almost nothing is beyond “fixing.” You can still tweet the link to the blog post.

  3. I rarely visit wordpress anymore (since I was shut out of my blog by a tech problem the tech-people couldn’t solve) and here I come to this post of all of them…
Israel/Jews have always been the first thing others simply loved to hate (and still do and probably always will. Only their reasons vary).
But despite everything Israel really is here to stay and nothing will be able to change that.
That’s the problem with facts – one can ignore them, but they have this annoying habit of remaining a fact…

    1. Great to “hear” from you! I wondered why I hadn’t been receiving notifications of new posts from your blog.

Yes, Jews are the group that everyone loves to hate. I will always think part of that is just jealousy that Jews have “punched way above their weight” in terms of achievement.

The longer I use WordPress, the less I like it. I have had an intermittent issue with the editor for months. Despite my sending multiple communications to the WordPress “engineers” the problem remains. I’ll bet they’re no longer even working on the problem.

  4. You know where I stand and why. I stand with you, the Jewish people and with Israel. There is no place in this world for hate of any kind against anyone or any group. And we have a right to defend ourselves against anyone who acts out of hatred.

  5. If you google anything, go through WP anywhere, you see a plague of anti-semitism comparing Jews today in Israel with Nazis, something that a few years ago would not have been allowed even if thought. The horror behind this lie is how many believe it mostly because those who don’t know history are doomed to repeat it. I find myself more and more alienated as both a supporter of Israel, a Jew and a proud Jew. The worst being Jews are agreeing with these lies. Social media as you say is a fuel for hate, and it’s easy, and as Jews are such a minority, some of them would rather go to the other side and not think about why what is happening is truly happening, they’d rather join those who say Jews are white racists. Sigh. I’m glad you are not one of these people and I hope there are more like you.

    1. Many thanks for your thoughtful and insightful comment. Extreme ignorance is a large component to anti-Semitism. The problem is as Louis Armstrong said, “There are some people that if they don’t know, you can’t tell them.”

      1. Ah a good quote with much truth. I’m sure Mr Armstrong understood this watching racists and other haters, and seeing how hate has its own truth which has no bearing on truth or history. I completely agree, ignorance comes from a total lack of knowing the history behind Jews experience. This probably won’t change no matter what we do, but we must do and I am glad you do.
