We are still without power. I HATE being without electricity in my own house.
We are staying with my wonderful wife’s parents and I will not post again until our power is restored at home.

Sorry, C/2. We’ve been told not to expect power before mid-day Friday. You stay safe as well.

Thanks, sir. Arizona may be very hot for 4 months of the year, but the Phoenix metro almost never receives frozen precipitation and never experiences tropical storms/hurricanes. Sounds even better to me now than just a couple of days ago. If we can find a place 2,000-ish feet in elevation, then the heat won’t be quite so bad.

I guess it’s been 12 or so years ago, I lost power for several days due to an ice storm. I ended up losing about $500 worth of food from my freezer. And had no heat in my house. I decided that wouldn’t happen again and bought a diesel generator at a government auction.
Of course since I installed it, the power has only gone out for a couple hours here and there. So I guess it’s worked (rolls eyes).

Thanks for sharing, DDM.
If I can find a blessing in the storm, and it’s not in my nature to do so, it would be that my wonderful wife is finally coming around to the idea of installing an “automatic” generator whenever we move to the desert. To me, such a device is like insurance. You hope you don’t have to use it, but if you do you’re glad you have it.
