I strongly assert that I am entitled to my opinion, no matter how popular or unpopular. I reject the notion of clinging to conformity. However, I believe I am far more of an empirical person than ideological one. I believe that people are entitled to their own opinions, but are not entitled to their own facts.
What am I getting at? An idea I have had for Disaffected Musings for awhile is simply to rank the Corvette generations, in order (Edgar shout-out), by looks only. Of course, even within the same generation Corvettes didn’t look exactly the same from one year to the next. For example, the C1 had a major change in appearance for 1956. Also, I have obviously had little exposure to the C8, but will include it in the rankings. By looks, here is my ranking of Corvette generations:
C2 (1963-1967)
C7 (2014-2019)
C6 (2005-2013)
C8 (2020-????)
C4 (1984-1996)
C5 (1997-2004)
C3 (1968-1982)
C1 (1953-1962)
Last year this ranking would have been different even accounting for the C8. Next year this ranking could be different. Life changes. Five years ago I never would have considered the C4 as better looking than the C5; I owned a C5 and thought it looked great (still do).
What do you think? I am virtually certain that many readers have their aesthetic preferences about Corvettes. Please submit yours.
A picture I took of a beautiful 1967 (C2) Corvette at Carlisle in 2018.
