An Anniversary And A Hiatus

Today (January 10th) is the 61st consecutive day I have posted to this blog (also the 100th of the last 101 days). Of course those numbers are under my control, but I think that shows dedication to this blog. Speaking of which…

Tomorrow is the first anniversary of the first post on Disaffected Musings. That post is embarrassing in its brevity, but I was in the process of moving my blog from being hosted by the Evil Empire to being hosted by WordPress.

It is highly unlikely I will be blogging from Arizona; hence, that is why “A Hiatus” appears in the post title. When I return I do not know if I will resume posting on a daily basis or, even, at all.

I am very grateful to those of you who read and comment on a regular basis. However, for the amount of time and effort I expend the number of views/visitors is just very disappointing. The trend in those numbers is not good, either. I know that in the age of “digital entertainment” and “social media” America has a very short attention span.

I also worry that this blog is becoming repetitive and derivative of itself. I can only write what I know and as I age my interests narrow.

Anyway, while on hiatus I’ll leave you the links to the five most read posts in addition to couple of extra links. By the way, the Aston Martin DB5 defeated the Jaguar E-Type three votes to two.

  1. Have a great trip! Thank you for all of the posts. Glad the Aston won…perhaps being away from the blog for several days will help you see things from a different perspective. I enjoy reading your posts very much! Cheers

  2. Enjoy your trip and happy car hunting. Hope the trip goes well and you have FUN. I too enjoy reading your words, but life can get in the way of even the best of intentions. So either way, know you and this Blog has been well received and not like other car-related blogs which seem one-dimensional. True, that is what blogging seems to be about, but nice to have some reality of life which you brought with your posts that make them interesting.

    1. Steve, many thanks for your kind words and for your enormous contributions to this blog. I like to think that I am not one-dimensional, but I fear most people can no longer think in more than one dimension.

I have found a “backup” in case the bidding on my first car sails past me. However, given the backup is being sold even later on Super Saturday the odds I buy that car are even lower than the first one.

      Be well.

  3. No, meant other car blogs. Are you talking the Vette convertible with the red interior? Saw that one listed but figured it would go for more than the other with the odd colored interior. Hey, if nothing else, be the first one to offer up a bid, say $30K LOL At least you can say you were “in the hunt” if nothing else.

Be well yourself and the best to you and your wife and family.

    1. Thanks again, Steve. The “backup” car is a 1966 with the emphasis seeming to be the interior appointed in “German” leather and that has been upgraded to include things like a backup camera. It has an LS3 rated, supposedly, at 550 HP at the crank, but is backed up with a 4-speed automatic. I don’t really want to drive a C2 restomod with a Chevy Suburban transmission, but beggars can’t be choosers.

I once made a bid on Bring a Trailer for the very reason you mentioned, just so I could say to myself and to others that I had bid on a car on the site. I still had the Z4 so there really was no way I could buy another car. Of course, I no longer own the Z4 so…

  4. Wait a minute, don’t bash the “burban….haha. Transmission can be swapped out easily enough to go with the 6L80 if you so prefer. Don’t let that dampen your thoughts. But as we know, if it goes in Super Saturday time-slot, forget any semblance of reasonable pricing. Again, have fun!
