Shingrix Wins Again :(

“Everyone” told my wonderful wife and me that the second dose of the Shingrix vaccine would not produce the same adverse effects as the first. “Everyone” lied (or maybe they were just mistaken). I have the same flu-like symptoms I had after the first dose. Oh well…

For “K Squared” a Pinterest photo of a 1950 Mercury. You have no idea how difficult it was to find a picture of this year and make without finding one that was chopped, channeled and the like.

As regular readers know, I am not a big FoMoCo fan as it is impossible for me to ignore the virulent anti-Semitism of the company founder, the only American mentioned in Mein Kampf. I don’t know if that’s why my Holocaust survivor father never owned a Ford, but I grew up around General Motors cars. A message for Holocaust deniers: Zolst Leegen En Drerd!

This article is another example of why Hemmings is a must read for car enthusiasts. The piece is about America’s first retractable hardtop convertible, but is also about post World War II America and people “getting out over their skis.” The Playboy story (the car, not the magazine) bears many similarities to the Tucker story. I hope Hemmings doesn’t mind my using a photograph from the article:

Cunnningham is writing a series of books called Orphan Babies: America’s Forgotten Economy Cars. Why this has just come to my attention is a mystery, but this series is, of course, right up my alley given my (unhealthy) obsession with defunct American makes.

Comments from The Forgotten Car:

Charley Walters: Love this column. Any feelings on the F -Pace Jag?

Me: Thanks, Charley.

While I would, of course, prefer an F-Type Jaguar, the F-Pace is an extraordinarily well-reviewed vehicle, the winner of many awards and is Jaguar’s best-seller.
